Health & Healing for Taurus season and placements

The devoted energy of Taurus season makes this the perfect time to check in with yourself and focus on the areas of life that require your unwavering attention. In Aries season, we were inspired to set new goals and reach for new heights. Now, in Taurus season, we will determine how we go about achieving those goals. If we can embody the strong and enduring nature of Taurus, we can set the pace for long-lasting success. Taurus does not shy away from putting in hard labor to reach their goals. They know that with consistency and patience, their hard work will eventually pay off, planting the seeds for all the worldly pleasures they desire. Though this unyielding mindset can aid in our commitments to routine and stability, it can also keep us closed off to new ideas and experiences, building walls so high that eventually, we become trapped in toxic patterns that keep us from our highest potential. When we refuse to embrace change, our minds and bodies become tough and rigid, keeping us closed off from the soft, sensuous connections we so desperately seek.

Taurus Body

The Thyroid Gland

Ruled by Venus, a benefic planet correlated with growth and expansion, the thyroid gland instructs all the cells in the body how and when to absorb oxygen and nutrients, allowing for steady, healthy growth. The thyroid gland utilizes Taurus’ devoted and consistent work ethic to achieve stability and balance in the body by regulating metabolism. Having a healthy, regulated metabolism means that the body can efficiently turn food into energy. This energy is used for everything from thinking to moving and growing, speaking directly to the steadfast and reliable nature of an adaptive Taurus.

Along with growth and expansion, Venus is also associated with pleasure, indulgence, and excess. This pushes Taurus to seek comfort and gratification in things such as rich foods, alcohol, drugs, and sex. While in moderation these pursuits make life worth living, in excess they can cause serious problems in all areas of life. This can prove to be quite difficult for Taurus to deal with, as their fear of change can make breaking toxic habits a feat they’d rather avoid. They may choose to dig their feet in the mud, regardless of whether it’s harming them or not.

In relation to the thyroid, this overindulgence in alcohol or rich foods like desserts, gluten, and processed foods can quickly throw the thyroid off balance, causing energy production in cells to slow down or speed up. This might manifest as brain fog, low energy, and excessive weight gain or loss. It is important for Taurus to be mindful of their habits and remember that although stepping out of our comfort zone is scary, sometimes it’s the only thing we can do to keep ourselves safe.

Taurus Posture

Fish Pose

Much like its ruler Taurus, the neck can become stiff and rigid when we are under excessive stress. Postures like fish pose help to alleviate cervical pain and tension by strengthening the muscles in the back of the neck usually weakened due to poor posture. Simultaneously, stretching and lengthening the front of the neck which becomes stiff from a constant downward gaze or from holding our shoulders in tight, protective positions. Additionally, this pose activates the organs of the throat along with the thyroid gland and pituitary gland, aiding in overall hormonal health.

Try these additional poses to reduce tension in the neck

  • Thread the Needle

  • Cat Cow

  • Standing Forward Fold

  • Puppy Pose

With the ruling planet of Venus, Taurus teaches us to indulge in life’s pleasures. Seeking beauty and bliss in all things. Taking time to slow down and be in the moment while engaging all 5 senses can be extremely grounding for everyone but especially those with heavy Taurus placements. Do this by receiving a massage, practicing tai chi, or going on a nature walk.

Here is a Taurus focused mindfulness ritual to use at home when you are in need of a reset:

Singing, humming or chanting

throughout this practice, consider singing, humming or chanting to yourself – Taurus rules the throat and the vibrations from these vocal actions can soothe our vagus nerve, creating a sense of calm

Tea Meditation

savoring a cup of tea is a great way to focus on the current moment and indulge all 5 senses. make sure to take note and luxuriate in the aromas, the feel of the warm cup in your hands, the sound of the boiling kettle or the birds outside, the hues and colors of the tea swirling, and the taste of the steeped herbs soothing your soul as well as your throat.

any tea of your choice will do but consider teas that include one of these Taurean aids : ginger, rose, hawthorn or thyme

Adjust posture

the c-shaped curvature of the cervical spine is a point of heavy pressure, with the weight of the head pressing down and compressing the neck causing pain and suffering. to combat this exaggerated curvature tuck in your chin and drop your shoulders to straighten the spine

Ear massage

there are many nerve endings in the lobes of the ears – massaging them releases endorphins making us feel more relaxed and happy. making sure to breathe deeply use your thumb and forefinger to pinch, press and pull on your ear lobe as well as moving them in circular motions to massage and stimulate the ear

Neck massage

begin by placing your hand on the back of your neck, just under the base of your skull and squeezing the muscles between your fingers and palm. holding for a few seconds and releasing. repeating this as you move down the neck

next take your forefinger and middle finger, place it in the tight spot right where the neck meets the shoulders and firmly make circles in each direction. then press or pin that tough spot while you move your neck in different directions, finding the sticky areas and holding until you feel a gentle release
