Gemini
Health & healing for Gemini season and placements
As spring comes to a close and the first rays of the summer sun begin to peak over the clouds, Gemini season fills us with a thirst for adventure, knowledge and connection. During this time we may feel encouraged to step out of our comfort zones, to try new things and meet new people. With Mercury as its ruler, Gemini is brimming with buzzing enthusiasm for engaging conversation that peaks our curiosities. These mentally stimulating types of connections fulfill the duality of the Gemini mind, as the twins represent both the unconscious mind and the divine universal mind. This fills Gemini with the urge to bounce from idea to idea collecting as much knowledge as possible in order to share it with the collective.
Though, we have to make sure we that this passion for novel experiences and connections is not driven by a fear of boredom and routine. This can translate as an inability to focus on what is needed in order to grow, instead becoming lost in a whirlwind of thoughts and opinions, unable to connect to our inner knowing. Mastering the art of allowing our hearts and minds to flow freely while staying true to ourselves and focused on our goals is a skill we must cultivate this season.

The Lungs
Just as Gemini represents the yin & yang in all beings, the lungs, which are ruled by Gemini, also share a dualistic nature. As the process of breathing begins with the inhalation of oxygen and ends with the exhalation of carbon dioxide. Though, similarly to the Gemini nature, there is a lot more going on beneath the surface when breathing. When oxygen enters into either of our two lungs (yet another comparison to the twins of Gemini), it is exchanged for carbon dioxide through thin walls of the cells. Then, the blood moves on to the heart replenished with the energy of new oxygen and relieved of the waste of carbon dioxide through the exhale.
The intricate exchange of blood and cells within the lungs resembles a bustling marketplace, where people convene to trade goods and services. This vibrant setting mirrors the ideal playground for a Gemini, who thrives on the ability to let their curiosity lead them to diverse individuals brimming with captivating stories and skills to share. Satiating their thirst for new experiences and intellectually stimulating environments.
This eternal striving to captivate the attention of a flighty Gemini can often lead to a loss of the plot. These placements can easily overwhelm themselves with too many options, too many opinions, and lose focus of their original goal. As overwhelm and overthinking encroach, Gemini individuals may find themselves susceptible to bouts of nervousness or anxiety. Amidst this mental whirlwind, they often overlook their physical well-being. They may hold their breath frequently, inadvertently disconnecting from the very source that could aid in breaking-free from the mental loops they impose upon themselves.
It is important for individuals with these placements to remember that though providing the mind what it needs to thrive is valuable, it is nothing when we neglect to provide the body what it needs to function. Deep breathing to connect to the moment, exercise to bring us back to our bodies and nourishing food to fuel us in our pursuits are all vital in transforming our creative energy into inspired action.
Gemini Posture
Camel Pose
Gemini has a quick and complex mind thanks to its ruler, Mercury. In order for the brain to perform quickly and efficiently it needs to have enough oxygen. Camel pose increases lung capacity for deeper fuller breaths, by opening the chest, the thoracic cavity and the throat. This expands the lungs allowing for more oxygen consumption as well as increased carbon dioxide output.
Other benefits of this pose include : reduced neck pain, reduced stress and anxiety, as well as strengthening of the shoulders, arms and quads.
Try these additional poses to promote lung health:
Cobra Pose
Upward Plank Pose
Cat Cow
Bridge Pose
Gemini Ritual
At - home ritual to reconnect to the Gemini energy within you
The complex, and sometimes scattered, nature of Gemini can keep them stuck in their heads. Getting so caught up in their puzzles and pursuits that they forget even the most basic bodily needs. Along with mindfulness practices, talk therapy is a great way for Gemini to get out of their heads and to break any mental loops they may be stuck in. Another way to bring Gemini back down to earth would be dynamic sports that require great hand-eye coordination. This keeps the Gemini mind stimulated but brings them to the present moment while feeling into their body.
Here is a ritual to perform at home to reset your energy and get in touch with the Gemini essence.
Breath Work
As an air sign and ruler of the lungs, breathing exercises like box breathing help bring Gemini out of their heads, reducing stress and anxiety while improving overall health.
Exhale to a count of four
Hold your lungs empty for a four-count
Inhale to a count of four
Hold the air in your lungs for a count of four
Exhale and repeat
Contract & Release
Standing up straight, contract all your muscles in your body (strain to make your body as tense as you can without hurting yourself) hold for a few seconds, then release and relax your whole body. swaying and wiggling out that tension if need be.
Shoulder Shrugs & Rotations
While you continue to stand straight, slowly lift your shoulders towards the ears. hold the position for 5-10 seconds, and then relax. repeat 5-10 times.
Move shoulders in a circular motion. bringing them as far up as possible and as far down as possible through the movements. rotate them forwards, backwards and in alternating directions.
Forearm Release
Using your forefinger, firmly press on the top of your forearm muscle, just below the bend of the elbow. when you find a tender spot, firmly hold that as you flex and extend that wrist. make sure to breathe as this can be painful. flex and extend while pressing on the point for 5 rounds. rest and repeat as needed.
Holding the same point, rotate your are and do a waving motion with your hand moving side to side. 5 rounds, breathe, rest and repeat as needed.
Hand Massage
Shake out your hands and stretch the wrist by gently pulling your fingers back towards the elbow. use your thumb and forefinger to compress and squeeze each finger on the opposite hand. take the knuckle of your forefinger and knead it in your opposing palm. switch hands.
Lung Meridian
The lung meridian pressure point is located at the edge of your hand. it runs from the tip of your thumb down along the side of your hand, ending just beneath the crease of your wrist.
Press your thumb firmly along this line. gently massage any sore or tender spots. this can improve overall lung health.
Gemini Journal/Tarot Prompts
As you attune to the creative energy of Gemini through embodied practices such as movement and self-care, consider integrating the wisdom of the season through reflective activities like journaling and tarot. Engaging in these thought-provoking practices can aid in navigating spiritual barriers, both mentally and physically, integrating the lessons of the season and encouraging healing for personal growth.
Consider these prompts as you integrate the healing of the season:
Where can following my curiosities lead me?
What are the two sides of my dual nature, and how can I nurture each side?
If I shut out the noise, what is my inner knowing saying to me?
How can I be more focused and reliable?
