Sagittarius Astro Care Guide
Sagittarius
Health & healing for Sagittarius season and placements
As we enter into the first of our winter months, Sagittarius fire gives us that last burst of warmth before the cold sets in. The fiery energy of Sagittarius fills us with a passion and zest for life. Perfect for contemplating philosophical ideas around the fire or letting our cares fall to the wayside as we dance the night away at a seasonal party. Though the indulgence of this Jupiter ruled sign can encourage us to go beyond our limits to the point of excess. Let us harness the expansive spirit of Sagittarius to explore new perspectives and possibilities, to broaden our curiosities, rather than giving in to excessive and reckless behaviors. We may burn with desires to live life to the fullest, impatiently waiting for the adventures to come, but sometimes slowing down to appreciate what is right in front of us is the only way to find the answers we seek.

The Sciatic Nerve
As the sign of exploration and travel, it is only fitting that Sagittarius rules over the muscles and structures that allow us to walk and run. As well as, the nerve that controls it all. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the human body, running from the lower spine and sacrum, through the pelvis, down the leg, all the way to the foot. Taking in sensory information and providing motor functions for the entire limb. As the ruler of these functions, the Sagittarian nature requires constant forward motion to fuel its boundless wanderlust. Always searching for new experiences and knowledge, sometimes this need can turn into a negative form of escapism. Allowing the idea of new opportunities to distract us from important commitments and refusing to tend to our current situation can physically translate to a neglect of self care. Being constantly on the move, over working the gluteus muscles and putting pressure on the spine without proper rest can harm the health of the sciatic nerve by compressing or pinching it. During this season and for those with this placement, we must remember that the more we rest, the more energy we will have. Slowing down to reflect and focus on ourselves, instead of searching outwards, can be just as rewarding as any adventure.
Sagittarius Posture
Dancer’s Pose
Sagittarius can benefit greatly from this dynamic yoga pose as it requires deep focus and concentration, which can prove to be difficult with the impatient nature of Sagittarius. While strengthening our abilities to focus, Dancer's Pose also helps to strengthen our core, back muscles, glutes of the raised leg and hip flexors of the standing leg. All while simultaneously stretching the chest, the hip flexors and quadriceps of the raised leg, and the hamstrings of the standing leg. With so many moving parts, this pose is able to capture Sagittarius attention while engaging its lower body rulerships.

Sagittarius Ritual
At - home ritual to reconnect to the Sagittarius energy within you
Mental Health Walk
First begin with a 20 min + walk to invigorate your mind and body with the feelings of forward motion.
Energetic Tapping
Once you are back home, circulate through a rhythmic series of tapping. Starting at the top of your head with fingertips, then arms, chest and abdomen with open palms, soft fists on the low back and hips, followed with open palms on the thighs. Ending with hip circles in each direction. this helps to release any pent up energy.
Contrast Shower
Follow this with a hot & cold contrast shower to tame the firey energy within you, while also promoting healthy arteries (the alternating hot & cold strengthens arteries by causing them to dilate and constrict). Consider adding oils such as bergamot or tea tree to your shower for calming yet rejuvenating aromatherapy
Alternating Breath
After you've added any post shower lotions or moisturizers, find a quiet spot to sit. Getting ready to begin a short breath work practice that will increase focus and concentration, while calming the mind and promoting healthy sleep.
This technique requires you to breathe in and out through alternating nostrils
Place your thumb over your right nostril, inhale through your left nostril for a count of 4. Hold for a count of 6. Release the right nostril and plug your left while exhaling through the right nostril for a count of 8.
Now inhale through your right nostril for a count of 4 while continuing to plug the left. hold for a count of 6. release the left nostril and plug the right while exhaling through the left for a count of 8.
Repeat for 6-8 rounds
Expand Your Mind
A meaningful way to end this practice could be to stimulate your mind with some reflective journaling with the prompts below or by settling in with an exciting fiction book to satiate your adventurous appetite.
Sagittarius Journal/Tarot Prompts
As you attune to the expansive nature of Libra through embodied practices such as movement and self-care, consider integrating the wisdom of the season through reflective activities like journaling and tarot. Engaging in these thought-provoking practices can aid in navigating spiritual barriers, both mentally and physically, integrating the lessons of the season and encouraging healing for personal growth.
Consider these prompts as you integrate the healing of the season:
What areas in life are demanding my focus?
Is there anything I am trying to escape from during this time?
Where in my life do I need to practice more patience?
What part of me is yearning to expand?
